KoSA Announces New Venue and Dates for 2006 Workshop.
Vermont, February 27, 2006 - The KoSA International Percussion Workshop and Festival is proud to announce that its 11th edition will be held at the picturesque campus of Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont from August 7-13, 2006. Nestled in the mountains of northern Vermont, Johnson State College is near the world-famous resort destination of Stowe and within 40 minutes of the Burlington international airport.
The KoSA Workshop is a hands-on intensive percussion camp unlike any other. The course of study includes an incredibly diverse range of styles and techniques. From rock, jazz, Latin, funk, and classical percussion; to Brazilian, Arabic and Indian hand drumming. Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Japanese Taiko drumming, solo marimba, jazz vibraphone, timpani, snare drum, percussion ensemble, and percussion for band director sessions are offered, as well as classes in music technology. The classes are designed for participants of all levels and of all ages.
Participants enjoy learning in an intimate setting. KoSA provides small daily classes, playing with the rhythm section in residence, participating in masterclasses, and performing in recitals. Every evening participants are treated to exciting concerts in the KoSA Festival, which are open to the general public. The festival includes a concert featuring the attendees and culminates with a Grand Finale Faculty Concert which is recorded live for future CD release.
